To celebrate the release of album Athlete: “The Singles 01:10” due out in September, Athlete have announced a 13 date UK tour for November and December. The tour sees Athlete performing all their singles to date from all their acclaimed albums spanning their 10 year career.
Since bouncing to prominence eight years ago with the spirited, electro-tinged, indie-pop of their Mercury-nominated debut, ‘Vehicles And Animals’, Athlete have established themselves among the UK's finest songsmiths. The south east Londoners have sold more than a million copies of their three hit albums (the other two being 2005's ‘Tourist’ and 2007's ‘Beyond The Neighbourhood’); packed out venues across the land; picked up an Ivor Novello award; and topped both the UK's album and airplay charts. Last year they made ‘Black Swan’, which was a musical summary of everything Athlete have been through; the good, the bad and the ugly.
This singles collection and tour will include fan favourites such as ‘Wires’, ‘Beautiful’, “You Got The Style”, “Hurricane”, “Superhuman Touch”, “Westside” and “El Salvador” plus many more.
