“This tour comes nearly a year and a half since our last UK shows so it'll be great to finally get back into it on home turf,” enthuses Steven. “The new album is full of songs that we've been aching to play live since we finished recording, so April can't come around soon enough for us. We've also decided to ban bass players from the stage and hook up two of our favourite bands of the moment as our revolving supports - we've got DZ Deathrays and Slaves playing every night, so it's a two-piece guitar and drums overload tour. Intensity in ten cities”

Blood Red Shoes will release their new single ‘An Animal’ through Jazz Life on 3rd March. Taken from their forthcoming, eponymously-titled album (also out 3rd March), the single will include B-side ‘Wretch’ which features Eoin from Drenge on lead vocals. Directed by Brass Moustache (Mark Donne and Joe Morris).

“A lot of different people pitched ideas for this video and it was mind blowing how sexist many of them were,” explains Steven. “With that in mind, and the current state of pop music videos, we came up with something fun that wasn't just us standing there playing instruments. We got a naked, running businessman and stuck two fingers up at sexism in music by swapping gender roles and having Laura-Mary play a mugger and me playing a jilted bride.”

Produced and recorded by the band in Berlin, and mixed by American indie god John Agnello, ‘Blood Red Shoes’ is the follow up to 2012’s much-lauded album ‘In Time To Voices’. “This record came out as our rawest, heaviest, sexiest and most confident sounding so far” says Steven. ‘Blood Red Shoes’ is the band’s fourth album, but the first one they’ve self-produced, having previously worked extensively with Arctic Monkeys producer Mike Crossey. "For this album we packed up all our stuff, got in a van and drove to Berlin, where we lived for months in a rented studio space," continues Steven. "No producer, no engineer, no A&R people, just us two in a big concrete room in Kreuzberg, jamming and recording our songs whenever we wanted, how we wanted with nobody to answer to except ourselves.”

A fiercely ambitious band, Blood Red Shoes have clear aims for the album: they want it to power them on another massive tour around the world. Their long-running tours have won them huge audiences from Indonesia to Russia, Australia and beyond. The duo recently handed power over to their fans to release a brand new song. 10 QR codes were placed in 10 different cities around the world and clues as to their location were then revealed. Fans in cities such as Jakarta, Mexico City, Moscow and New York discovered the codes almost instantly and the track was unlocked once all the codes had been found.
