STRIKING MATCHES
AND TENILLE TOWNES
UK DATES ANNOUNCED OCTOBER 2019
Following a UK intimate tour last year, live favourites Striking Matches will be back this autumn with one of country’s brightest new stars Tenille Townes (on selected dates*).
The musical partnership of Striking Matches Sarah Zimmermann and Justin Davis sweetly blends the roots of country, the realness of blues and the rawness of rock music to create their original signature sound. Following the international success of Striking Matches’ album “Nothing But The Silence”, produced by T-Bone Burnett, and 9 songs on TV’s “Nashville”, Davis and Zimmermann continually prove to be the band that cannot be defined by old school music row boundaries.
For their upcoming 2019 release, they have settled in a style all their own that they’ve coined as “blues-pop” - an amalgamation of their blues and roots based guitar riffs, combined with pop melodies which can be seen on latest single Don’t Hold Back. Striking Matches are gearing up for an international tour with dates across the US before heading to UK shores in October.
Canadian country singer/songwriter Tenille Townes will be joining Striking Matches in Bristol, Liverpool and Glasgow as well as headlining a date at London’s Thousand Island on Wednesday 23rd October as part of Country Music Week. Townes, isn’t quite like anyone else who has graced the city’s stages. With the lyrical fortitude of Griffin or Lori McKenna, the soulful nature of Chris Stapleton or even Adele, Townes is paving ground all her own. Working on her debut LP with Jay Joyce, the Nashville-based Townes is honing her way to be one of country’s most promising new artists.
